How to Turn an Old Suitcase Into a Cozy Pet Bed

Even so, it can be difficult to discover an animal bed that fits the style visual of your home. In this easy DIY task, we turned an old travel suitcase into a comfortable family pet bed by elevating it with furniture legs and tucking a pillow inside.

Directions
Remove the hanger bolts:
Use pliers to eliminate the existing wall mount bolts from all four legs. Discard the hanger bolts and set the legs aside.

Identify where the legs will go:
Turn the luggage upside down and determine where the legs will go. Trace around the positioning of each leg. Mark the radius of each circle so you’ll know where to pre-drill the hole for the lag screw.

Pre-dill holes:
Utilizing a 5/16-inch drill bit, pre-drill 4 holes at each corner of the luggage where you marked for the lag screw. If the interior of your travel suitcase is fabric, the bit may not go all the way through. If so, turn the luggage best side up, feel for the hole, and punch the drill bit below the interior through the bottom of the suitcase.

Include lag screws and washers:
Location a washer around the lag screw and start to thread the screw below the interior of the luggage so that it sticks out of the bottom. Repeat the procedure for the remaining lag screws and washers.

Add the legs:
Once the screw is all the way through the bottom of the luggage, thread the leg on from the bottom. (Note: This step is simpler with an additional set of hands but is possible to achieve by yourself if you hold the bolt in place with a wrench while threading onto the leg.) Repeat the procedure for the staying legs.

Add the pillow:
Place the pillowcase around the pillow and stuff it inside the suitcase. (Note: King pillowcases make it simple to fold the excess under, so if your pup ruffles up the fabric, the case won’t slip off as easily. If you’re utilizing a larger travel suitcase or a trunk, consider various shapes and sizes of pillows that match the sizes and shape of your case.).

Include rubber pads to the feet:.
Optional: To keep the luggage from sliding around on a smooth floor, think about sticking rubber pads on the bottom of the feet on the travel suitcase.
