How to Paint Ceramic Vases and Bowls

If your ceramics are feeling somewhat uninspired, a little paint is all it takes to breathe new life into these pieces. We picked blue and pink paint for the stunning vase and bowl envisioned here, however you can choose any color combination that matches your home’s existing decoration.
What You’ll Need
Products
Ceramic bowls and vases
Paper
Ceramic paint
Little containers for decanting paint
Great paintbrush
Pencil
Directions
Put paint into containers:
Cover work surface area with newspaper. Set ceramic item on top. Pour paint into containers.

Make a splatter pattern:
For a splatter pattern, dip brush in paint and clean on within container to get rid of excess, then flick paint onto item from above. Let dry, then flick on dots in a 2nd color, if wanted.

Make a line pattern:
For line pattern, draw lines along rim of product in pencil, then paint over them. Let dry 24 hours.

Heat set paint:
Heat-set paint and make your product washable by baking in oven on a sheet at 300 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
