How to Make Rose-Scented Goat Milk Soap

This idea originates from our buddy Olivia Kanaley Inman. Rich, creamy, and discreetly fragrant with rose water, these goat milk soaps utilize the approachable melt and pour soapmaking approach and come together quickly for gifting or equipping the guest bath. Powdered goat’s milk, together with almond oil and a velvety soap base create a moisture-rich bar, that we scented with food grade increased water (try to find it in the baking aisle at health food shops). Simply a pinch of rose clay tints these a pale pink color, while exfoliating, carefully crushed walnut shells offer each bar a quite mottled texture.

In a small bowl, integrate 5 tablespoons rose water, 1/4 teaspoon increased clay and 2 1/2 tablespoons powdered goat milk. Blend thoroughly till the powdered active ingredients are totally dissolved in the rose water. Set aside.

Cut a 1 pound block of soap base into 1-inch square cubes and place in a big microwave safe bowl. Repeat at periods of 10 seconds up until totally melted, making sure that the soap does not boil.

Add 4 teaspoons of crushed walnut shells to the melted mix, and blend to combine. Blend continually up until the mixture cools to in between 125 and 135 degrees. It will thicken a little, and enable the crushed walnut shells to remain evenly suspended in the soap.

Immediately pour the mix into the silicone mold, and spritz the surface of the soap with isopropyl alcohol to remove any air bubbles. Permit the soap to cool and solidify entirely before removing from mold. Slice into 4 bars.
